AMP:
Amplifying musicians prospects
Music schools can transform lives. They train the stewards of culture worldwide. Besides music, they provide students with safe spaces to forge new perspectives, friendships, and social skills.
But when young musicians enter the music industry as professionals, many struggle to make ends meet. To find work, they have to showcase their talent. They must produce content and promote it. They must become entrepreneurs. Unfortunately, most music schools do not teach these skills.
Our capacity-building programme AMP is a response to this. It is an accessible and accelerated educational programme in music production and promotion based on mobile phones and free online content. It covers all the key aspects that artists need to thrive in the contemporary music industry, from audio/video production and promotion to (mental) health and career management. It complements the essential work provided by music schools by helping their students launch their professional journeys.
AMP is
Accessible: It defies the financial barriers preventing people from entering the world of music production, using free yet uncompromising mobile solutions.
Enabling: It is a step-by-step journey to independence. With AMP, students learn how to produce audio and video content from start to finish, as well as how to promote it.
Actionable: It focuses on skill-building to expand career opportunities. The programme provides hands-on training and resources for further exploration.
Impact
Research, including our own, demonstrates that training in music production delivers multiple benefits, including:
Enhanced performance: Music production skills enrich music education by enabling artists to review and refine their craft.
Improved communication: Confidence in content production augments musicians’ artistic and communication power.
Heightened professional prospects: Music production skills open professional pathways beyond performance, including audiovisual production, communication, and marketing roles.
